GetCheese Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 8, 2026
This privacy policy explains how the GetCheese Chrome extension, currently titled "GetCheese - Auto Apply Coupons on UAE Stores" (the "Extension"), collects, uses, stores, and shares information. In this policy, "GetCheese," "we," "our," and "us" refer to the operator of the Extension.
Summary
The Extension helps users find and apply coupon codes on supported merchant websites and offers optional account features such as login and product price tracking. To provide those features, the Extension processes limited browsing and page data from the site you are visiting, stores certain data locally in your browser, and sends some data to GetCheese servers. If you choose to create or use an account, we also process account-related data that you provide.
Information We Collect and Process
Depending on which features you use, the Extension may collect or process the following categories of information:
- Browsing and page context: the current page URL, domain, and whether the current page appears to be a supported store, product page, cart page, or checkout page.
- Page content used for coupon functionality: page DOM content or page snippets that are necessary to identify coupon fields, submit buttons, product information, or checkout structure.
- Coupon and merchant data: coupon codes, offer text, merchant domain, selector data, and affiliate link information returned by our services.
- Shopping context: subtotal or price information visible on the page when needed to test or compare coupon results.
- Account data you choose to provide: email address, password, verification code, and authentication token if you register, log in, verify your email, or request a password reset.
- Price tracking data you choose to submit: product URL, product name, product image URL, and page selectors used to identify product name and price for tracked items.
- Local device/browser data: extension install date, coupon workflow state, progress markers, retry counters, cooldown timestamps, prompt timing data, and other local state needed to resume or limit extension behavior.
How the Extension Collects Information
- The Extension runs a content script on pages you visit so it can determine whether coupon or product-tracking features are relevant.
- The Extension sends the current page URL to GetCheese servers to request available coupons for that store.
- When needed to identify coupon fields or analyze a product page, the Extension sends DOM content from the current page to GetCheese servers.
- If you use account features, the Extension sends the login, registration, verification, or password-reset data that you enter directly to GetCheese servers.
- If you use price tracking, the Extension sends product details that it extracts from the page and the details you choose to submit to GetCheese servers.
- The Extension stores operational data locally using Chrome extension storage and page storage APIs.
How We Use Information
- To determine whether a website is supported.
- To request and return coupon codes or merchant offers.
- To identify coupon input fields, buttons, and other page elements needed to apply or test coupons.
- To compare coupon outcomes and identify the best available coupon based on page pricing information.
- To support optional account features such as login, email verification, password reset, and authenticated product tracking.
- To store temporary state needed to continue an in-progress coupon flow or limit repeated affiliate-link activity.
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the Extension and related services.
Data Stored Locally in Your Browser
The Extension stores data locally only as needed to operate its features. This may include:
- Authentication token, if you log in.
- Install date used to delay affiliate-link activation for new installations.
- Per-store affiliate cooldown timestamps.
- Coupon auto-apply state such as coupon index, best coupon found, best discount found, retry counts, reload counts, and timestamps used to resume or stop a flow.
- Temporary session or local page storage values used for prompts, notifications, checkout input restoration, and coupon-result messages.
Remote Servers and Data Sharing
The Extension communicates with GetCheese servers at getcheese.co to provide coupon lookup, selector analysis, account, authentication, verification, and price-tracking features.
We may share information with service providers that help us operate these features, such as hosting, authentication, analytics, fraud prevention, or automated page/selector analysis providers. Those providers may process data on our behalf only for the purpose of providing services to us.
The Extension may also request a favicon from a third-party favicon service when displaying merchant branding in the popup. That request may include the merchant domain.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use the data collected by the Extension for advertising unrelated to the Extension's core coupon, shopping, and account features.
Affiliate Links
When available, the Extension may open or use an affiliate link associated with a supported merchant. This may cause the merchant or affiliate network to know that a visit came through an affiliate link. The Extension stores install-date and cooldown information locally to control how often this behavior can occur.
Chrome Permissions and Access
- tabs: used to identify the active tab, communicate with the content script, and open or close affiliate tabs when applicable.
- storage: used to save authentication tokens and extension state locally in the browser.
- content script access on visited pages: used to inspect page structure and page content required for coupon detection, selector identification, checkout flow support, and optional product tracking.
Data Retention
- Local extension data: retained until it expires, is overwritten, you log out, you clear browser or extension storage, or you uninstall the Extension.
- Authentication token: retained locally until logout, token invalidation, or removal from storage.
- Account and product-tracking data on our servers: retained for as long as needed to provide the feature you requested, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
- DOM, URL, and selector-analysis requests: retained only as long as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, debug, and improve the service, unless a longer period is required by law.
Your Choices and Controls
- You can stop all extension collection from your browser by disabling or uninstalling the Extension.
- You can clear locally stored extension data by clearing Chrome extension storage or removing the Extension.
- You can log out to remove the locally stored authentication token.
- You can choose not to use optional account or product-tracking features.
- You can contact us to request account-related assistance or deletion requests, subject to applicable law and our ability to verify the request.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information processed by the Extension and our related services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Extension.
International Processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own depending on where our servers or service providers are located. By using the Extension, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations, subject to applicable law.
